Blog Post Gitte Donvig is returning home

Ellanbrae Park is very excited to announce that FEI rider and coach, Gitte Donvig, is “returning home” to Ellanbrae Park to teach and train, both her own horses and clients’ horses.
Originally from Macedon, Gitte began her dressage career in her teens. As a young rider Gitte won numerous junior and young rider championships including the coveted Aachen Challenge. In 2000 she was the recipient of the Australian Equine Scholarship and attended Marcus Oldham College. Gitte spent time in Germany working and training with the late George Theordorescu and then at the esteemed Hof Kasselman, part of the Performance Sales International group.
Gitte has been competing at Grand Prix level since 1998 and has been a member of the National Talent Squad, the National Futures Squad and the Victorian Dressage State Elite Squad. She has campaigned several successful Grand Prix horses most recently ‘Port Said 10’, consistently placing top 3 at Australian CDI’s and CDI-W’s.
Gitte rode the beautiful imported black stallion owned by Mary and Rob Hanna, ‘Shiraz Black’ to Australian Young Horse Champion both as a five and six year old, each year being awarded Champion of Champions.

Gitte is an NCAS accredited coach and has trained horses and riders from novice to Grand Prix level.  Currently Gitte is campaigning the imported Jazz gelding ‘Brioni’ who has only recently begun his FEI career, as well as several other clients’ horses ranging from Medium to Intermediate 2 level.
Gitte has spent the last 12 years in Geelong working as a rider and coach. She is married and a mother of three. Moving back to Macedon is a huge step for Gitte and her family, but something she looks forward to. “I am extremely excited to be ‘returning to my roots’. The opportunity to work from the beautiful Ellanbrae Park is amazing. I am really looking forward to what the future might hold!”
We are also really looking forward to having such a fantastic rider and coach based at Ellanbrae Park, and even better that Gitte is returning to the property she grew up on! Our vision to once again make this beautiful property one of the foremost dressage breeding, teaching and training properties in the country is becoming a reality. Exciting times ahead J
Gitte and her team will be based at Ellanbrae Park and available for lessons and training from late July. All enquiries should be directed to Gitte on 0417 600 410.
